NEW MEDICAL METHOD BY DR QUACH TUAN VINH

Colonel Dr. Quach Tuan Vinh, a traditional medicine researcher and the former head of the military medical office under the Political Department, has successfully applied a technique of the surgery thread implantation into acupuncture points (STIIAP) since 1983.
In 2003, the State President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Tran Duc Luong, awarded him the title of “Honorable Doctor”.
Vinh, a medical columnist for a number of Vietnamese newspapers and magazines, has written more than 20 valuable medical books.
Since his retirement in 2008, Vinh, a founder of the Minh Quang Center of STIIAP and Functional Rehabilitation, the first of its kind in Vietnam, has done research on developing the method of implanting surgery thread into acupuncture points.
In improving the technique of implantation, he has proved that many diseases and functional rehabilitation, previously treated by acupuncture, can be treated by STIIAP.
Some 20,000 patients have been treated by his new treatment methods.
In applying his method in treatment and making remarkable achievements, he has proved that his method is of great benefit to the public, affirming the importance of Vietnamese traditional acupuncture.
Dr. Vinh has become a phenomenon in the Vietnamese media. In 2008, the Voice of Vietnam introduced Vinh in a so-called “Creative Ideas” program. The press called him “the doctor of thread implantation” and “The doctor with golden hands”.
The O2 TV Channel, of Vietnam Television, interviewed one of Vinh’s patients, Ms. Le Thuy Duc, born in 1938 and living on Nguyen Cong Hoan Street, Hanoi. In 2008, she had a cataract removed, but her sight did not improve much. Later, after several treatments with STIIAP, her sight has recovered significantly. The patient is now able to read newspapers, or knit things without glasses.
Patients often say: “How wonderful Vinh’s method is!”.
On August 16th, 2009, Nguyen Quoc Trieu, Minister of Health, presented Vinh’s medical center with the Golden Cup of the Vietnam Association of Medicine and Pharmacy, entitled “For the Health of Vietnam 2009”.
In developing STIIAP further, Dr. Vinh has successfully studied alternative methods, using disposable injection needles.
Vinh’s technique of using these throw-away injection needles seems to be better than the previous Chinese technique, in terms of treating diseases and functional rehabilitation.
The most important improvement is to make the surgery thread implantation simpler and easier to apply, as patients suffer less pain compared to the old method.
